Very sturdy and packaged well. Looks great for the price. Sturdy wood. Comes with helpful marker for scratches. Great product with a few cons as follows. Computer tower runs a bit hot in the closed cabinet despite the ventilation hole. CD inserts are removable – but the company should consider making this easier for the user. Have to fill in the holes your self as obvious where the screws used to be once you take this out. Top of desk does not attach well to the base which makes it difficult to move the heavy desk. Bought the hutch too, but hutch does not attach to base. Bought brackets to attach these myself. [...]

This is a beautiful Desk / hutch combination. As much as I love it there are a few down sides.

1) There is "some assembly required". It took me about 4 hours with occasional help from my wife.

2) The desk top is held to base by seven (7)very small screws. Upon completion of the assembly, my wife and I tried to move the desk into position and ripped the top of the base. The 7 small screws are the desks weakest link. Fortunately we were able to re position the fastening brackets and re-attach the top.

3) I decided to take the CD holder out as it wouldn't hold the CD cases (they fall out). I figured I could use the space as a book shelf. There were 36 screws and about 30 small nails holding the rack in place. Needless to say, this left several holes that the touch up pen almost covered and some of the nails broke and couldn't be removed. I tried to hammer them in and this was less than desired as it left a few nails bent over and broken. But it was either this or leave the USELESS rack up and waste the space. Maybe there could be a "WITH or WITHOUT" option for the CD rack.

4) The desk top is laminate over particle board. It is sturdy but has a soft surface that is very "Impressionable". Be very careful with the top. If you do any writing be sure something is under your paper or you will transfer your writing to the desk.

All that said, I am still fairly happy with the purchase. We had a tough time finding a Desk that matched our existing furniture and this fit the bill. Most of the desks we looked at were too big for the area we needed to fill, This desk is a perfect fit.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend with some reservation.
