From the outside, the Riverside Cantata Executive Computer Desk is a rich, antique-inspired desk with traditional paneling and a warm finish that give it an old-school, stately feel. But from the inside, it's a spacious, modern affair fit for 20th century executives and professionals, thanks to multifunctional drawers, an extra work surface, and built-in outlets that keep cell phones and music players fully charged to get you from 9 to 5 to pilates to late-evening drinks.

The desk is crafted from durable poplar hardwood solids, birch veneers, and a cherry veneer top, matched and finished in a warm burnished cherry. Six drawers are constructed with dovetail joinery and mounted on smooth, full-extension, ball-bearing guides. The two top and two middle outside drawers each contain two removable, adjustable dividers so you can quickly sort supplies and notes. The bottom file drawer on each side can accommodate letter- or legal-size hanging files, and both drawers lock for extra security.

The top center drawer has a hinged, drop-front face and can be pulled out for use as a laptop or keyboard tray, or you can leave the drawer as-is and use it conventionally. A removable, felt-lined pencil tray fits into the drawer. A double electrical outlet is mounted at the back of the drawer alongside a wiring access hole, so you can connect and stash small electronics or set up laptops without cord clutter. A round metal grommet with a cap at the center back of the top panel allows more wiring access.

The desk's kneewell boasts a fixed bottom shelf for your CPU or other bulky items - or for tired feet around 4 p.m. Tucked under the sturdy half-bun feet you'll find built-in base levelers that'll keep the whole unit steady.
